Untitled – travel integration fabrics

2025 – Peru/ Spain/ France/ The Netherlands

This project continues with the naturally dyed fabrics. They are two big fabrics, one in pink (dyed with hibiscus) and one in red (dyed with cochinilla). The pink one is inspired by pre-colombian, organic shapes. The red one is inspired by Shipibo, geometrical shapes. I have used a mix of crochet and embroidery. The type of embroidery used is the same as the Shipibo use in their works. Furthermore I experimented with a very basic way of batic. Putting candle wax on the fabrics, creating a main composition, and dyeing the rest. For me the making of this work felt like the integration of my six month travel in South-America. Almost like a way of meditation, to reflect and proces the beautiful experiences I’ve had and summarize them in these two large fabrics. This way these fabric hold a lot of emotional value and tell my personal story.
